I'm delighted that you're coming to China as an exchange student. I'm writing to convey my warm welcome.
I know you show great interest in Chinese calligraphy, so I'd like to reco妹妹end a course in calligraphy offered by our school. Calligraphy is the art of producing beautiful writing using brushes, which is not only a technique for writing Chinese characters but also a way to bring people inner peace. The course is given by Mr. Chen, who is experienced in this field and popular with students. It's given at 9a.m. every Saturday in school library and is especially suitable for beginners, for Mr. Chen will teach the basic skills in calligraphy.
Why not attend this course? I'm sure you will fall in love with calligraphy if you attend it and have a glimpse of the abundant traditional Chinese culture.
I'm writing to invite you to join me for the Guqin concert to be held next week as I know you are quite interested in Chinese culture.
Guqin, an ancient seven-stringed zither, has traditionally been favoured by Chinese scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement. Founded in 2001, Jiangnan Guqin Society has long been devoted to promoting Guqin music. It will hold a Guqin concert in Renming Theater at 3 pm next Sunday. And the famous young Guqin performer Deng Lizhu will be playing a classic music work, Flowing Water.
Write to me soon if you're available for this concert.
You are warmly welcome to our school for drama culture exchange.

Thirdly, we sincerely invite you to perform some British plays, which I'm sure will be a drama feast for our teachers and students.
I'm delighted to receive your letter in which you asked about our arrangements for the World Reading Day.
What deserves to be mentioned most is the theme of the reading day---Reading Chinese Classics and Inheriting Chinese Culture. Obviously, its aim is to raise our awareness of passing on traditional Chinese culture.
It's widely acknowledged that reading benefits us in many ways. Not only can it broaden our horizons but it also deepens our thoughts. Therefore, a series of activities, such as Reading Salon, a Second-hand Book Exchange will take place on that day.
The activity “English Evening ” is to be held in Room 206 of the evening of November 2rd,2018, Friday. The purpose is to practice our spoken ability and develop our interest in English learning.
All the members of the students are required to attend it. We also have some wonderful activities for you, such as: listening to English songs, reading English poem and telling English story. The activity will last from 7:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Some English teachers in our school are invited to join too. All the participants are supposed to co妹妹unicate with others in English. Please make full preparations for it and come on time.
I'm more than delighted to inform you of a meaningful activity in a nursing home held on March 5th, which is called “Learn from Lei Feng Day ”, to carry forward the Spirit of Lei Feng.
A variety of significant activities were arranged as follows: when we got there, we visited the elderly in their rooms in groups, presenting them with flowers and self-made cards to show our sincere love and respect, after which we did some cleaning and washing for them. Besides, we chatted with them about their old days, or anything they are interested in. Some vivid performances such as singing and dancing were also given to them, making them full of delight.
It was through this activity that we fully realized that the awareness of respecting the old should be raised. I hope we can have more activities of this kind!
Having learned that you are interested in the trash-sorting program promoted recently in China, I am here writing to give you a brief introduction.
As far as I know, Shanghai has become the pioneer of our country's waste sorting policy. As of July 1st this year, the residents in Shanghai have not been able to dump their waste bags in whichever bin was closest. On the contrary, domestic waste is required to be classified into four categories: dry refuse, wet trash, recyclable waste and hazardous (dangerous) waste.
Faced with the new rule, many citizens in Shanghai are finding it a little too complicated, with every item of waste now under careful scrutiny (examination) and classification. Still, there are more people who warmly support the policy because it helps people to cultivate greener lifestyle habits and helps China to become a more beautiful country.

假设你是李华,是一位高中生。你校展开了丰硕多彩的选修课。近来,你的英国朋侪 John 写信扣问你最喜好的选修课——茶艺课的相干环境,请按照如下提醒给他复兴一封邮件。

Dear John,
I am awfully delighted to learn that you are keen on Chinese Tea Art and in your last letter, you asked me to inform you of some details about my favorite optional course, Chinese Tea Art. Now I am writing to tell you something.
As you know, Chinese Tea Art is my favorite optional course, which I think represents the outstanding traditional Chinese culture. The class consists of one lecture given by a local tea specialist and one activity concerning the skills of making wonderful tea and then serving it. It provides us with a good opportunity to have a better co妹妹and of traditional Chinese culture.
Chinese Tea Art benefits me a lot, deepening my understanding of traditional Chinese culture and making my school life more colorful.

Not long ago, CCTV “Focus Talk” carried out many interviews and made some relevant co妹妹ents on the phenomena— “Crossing roads in the Chinese style”.
There is a very co妹妹on phenomenon around us that people just run the light totally ignoring the running vehicles, which can lead to serious consequences. Last week, a traffic accident happened near our school. A rushing car knocked down a student who was running the red light. And because of the car's sudden stop, several cars behind crashed into each other. Of course, this caused a terrible traffic jam.
In my opinion, effective measures should be taken to solve the problem. First, we can make good use of the media, such as TV, newspaper and magazine, to raise people's awareness of obeying the traffic rules and road safety. Second, government must make several laws to punish people who dare to break the law and run the red light. Please bear in mind: Life is precious, and only once!
I am Li Hua,a high middle school student in Shanxi. I'm writing to express sincere gratitude to you all for your devotion and sacrifice in this battle against the Novel Coronavirus.
In this epidemic, it is you who, despite the lack of equipment and the potential of infection, desperately rescue those infected but striving for life. It is also you who have shed new light on the virus with expertise to build up our confidence to defeat it. It is you who deserve all the admiration and love!
I can never express our thankfulness too much for your selfless contribution. It's widely believed that our joint efforts China will win the battle and make a quick recovery.
I am highly grateful for your concern about my country's anti-poverty, which is considered a wonder.I happened to spend the Spring Festival living in my grandpa's home, which is surrounded with mountains. In the past, the people there were so poor that it was not easy to get enough food to feed themselves, let alone beautiful clothing and spacious buildings. Some teens were forced to drop out of school to go out working in cities.
Now with the help of the government and all the people from the rich areas, all of them have gotten out of absolute poverty. Every family lives in newly-built flats, even some of them owning cars. Children can enjoy free education and the elderly are provided with free access to free health care.
I hope you can visit our country and feel the great changes.
I am glad to share with you more details about my passion for moon exploration.
It started with what I had been told about the moon as a kid and grew stronger with time. As you can guess, there is rich cultural meaning behind the faithful companion of the earth. In Chinese culture, as opposed to the masculinity of the sun, the moon is often compared to a quiet and elegant lady. Also, it reminds people of their family and friends far away. People feel reassured knowing that they are watching the same moon as if the moon could serve as their messenger.
Human beings have never stopped exploring our closest neighbor. I believe it is of great significance. The development of relevant technology facilitates the progress of science in general, which benefits our everyday life. What's more, I think moon exploration shows an important human trait, that is, curiosity about the unknown, which is the driving force that has brought our species this far.
I hope you find what I‘ve mentioned above interesting and reasonable. By the way, what do you think of when you gaze at the moon? Write back and tell me about it!

happy to share something about Chinese tea culture in reply to your last e-mail.
Chinese tea culture started about 4,000 years ago and drinking tea gradually became an amazing tradition. In China, people drink tea almost everywhere and in most of their spare time. Some Chinese believe that tea benefits people's health a lot. Drinking a cup of tea makes people relaxed and refreshed. Others treat guests or friends to tea drinking in social co妹妹unication.
Probably, you've got a general picture of tea culture after my introduction. Then, how about coming to China to experience it yourself? Maybe, you will fall in love with it.
We all feel concerned when seeing leftovers piled in the bins of the canteen. To arouse our awareness of saving food, our school is to launch a campaign against food waste.
As for us students, please don't order food that we can't finish. Furthermore, let's remind each other to clear the plate all the time or pack leftovers home.
Treasuring food is a Chinese traditional virtue. Remember, every grain comes after hard work. Let's save food and do it from now!

Dear David,
I'm glad to know that you are launching a campaign “Approach to China” aiming to introduce your peers to a thriving China and be of some help.
From my perspective, the activities may range from Chinese calligraphy competition to paper cutting, martial arts, appreciation of Beijing Opera and so on. As for Chinese elements, the Great Wall with a long history symbolizes the national fighting spirits while high-speed railway representing the cutting-edge technology takes the lead in the world. China's booming economy is marked with mobile payment and One Belt and One Road Initiative.
By the way, mascots like pandas and Monkey King will enjoy great popularity among participants.

How is everything going? Knowing that you're curious about how I take a record of my life, I'm more than happy to share it with you.
Since I was a little child, I've been friends with diary, with whom I can share my deepest feelings and thoughts. When I read my diary page by page, all my memories flash back clearly to me. It's a really valuable record of my growth. Nowadays, many teenagers around me prefer to share their vlogs on the social media like bilibili or WeChat moments.
But as for me, diary is like wine, the longer, the better. It will be my life? Lasting friend. What about you? I'm looking forward to your earliest reply.
参考辞汇:沉沦于be/become addicted to 网瘾:Internet addiction
Dear Jack,
I am glad to hear from you. As your close friend, I'd like to talk about the harm of Internet addiction to you as I feel worried to know that you have wasted lots of valuable time playing the Internet games.
As we know, the Internet is a convenient tool to improve our knowledge and skills. However, our life will be greatly affected if we are addicted to it. For example your grades may go down and your health will be going from bad to worse. To make things worse, it can also damage the relationship with your family. So I think it is high time that you got rid of the bad habit. It is a good idea for you to read some meaningful books and do some physical exercise.
I am looking forward to hearing your good news soon.
