1857年，词曲作家詹姆斯·罗德·皮尔彭特(James Lord Pierpont,25 April 1805 - 5 August 1886)的父亲在波士顿一所学校任职。这首歌是吉米写给父亲的学生们，协助学生们参加感恩节表演用的。歌中唱道：“雪橇奔驰在雪地上，咱们欢笑一路上，铃声儿响彻四方，咱们心境高涨，笑得多开心，雪橇之歌今夜唱。叮叮当，叮叮当，铃儿响叮当……”明快的旋律、欢喜的场景、悦耳的童声合唱，使这首歌变成150年来最重要的圣诞节保存曲目，也是世界出名度最高的歌曲。

3、 《Yhe 12-day of Christmas》 《 圣诞节的12天》

这首歌的歌词，表面上是讲圣诞节的十二天里要做的事，看起来其实就只是一首很心爱的歌而已，如同没有啥太大的意义在里边，其实，不只是这样喔！

“圣诞节的十二日”可说是一首涵义极为深远的“启蒙歌曲”。

这首圣诞歌开始始是由英国的天主教派所写成，因为十六世纪之后的一两百年，英格兰的国会并不招认这个教派，所以他们依法不能布道，或揭露从事他们的崇奉活动。在其时，身为一位天主教徒可是违法的呢！被抓到之后，轻则牢房之灾，重则被砍头或被吊死都有可以。 已然如此，天主教派大约如何隐秘布道呢？
